Fernie offers a variety of cross-country trails including Nordic-only and multi-use trails, including dog friendly areas, huts and facilities. The Elk Valley Nordic Centre features 10km of groomed trails for all abilities with many programs and a warming hut with a wood stove. Gentle loops with spectacular Rocky Mountain Views can be enjoyed at the Fernie Golf Course, located right in town. The intermediate terrain at Fernie Alpine Resort offers a secluded forest setting and a great workout. Montane Trails feature Nordic-only and multi-use trails in a rolling terrain layout on dog-friendly trails. Be sure to ski to the Montane Hut, warm up by the wood stove or soak in the amazing views of the Lizard Range and Fernie Alpine Resort.
UNGROOMED TERRAIN: Many of Fernie’s mountain bike and hiking trails transform into multi-use winter trails for cross-country touring, snowshoeing and fat biking. Try Ridgemont Trails and Mt Fernie Provincial Park Trails.
